WIP ron cobb Lovecraft creature sketch based sculpture will see where it goes ...

Sculpt of humanoid creature based on a lovely old Ron Cobb sketch which was his homage to lovecraft. Love the proportions of these creatures chunky hands and feet scales remeniscent of tortoise and crocodile. Ron cobb such a legend and key inspiration of most of the industry whether they know it or not and certainly one of mine. I hadn't seen any ones interpretation of this so thought would take a 1st shot as an exercise and see where i am with my sculpting after so long and on ipad proving out software and pipline a bit more. Sculpted entirely on iPad in nomad so far - done a quick bake down test to game mesh in cozyblanket as well. Done in 30 min bites here and there in free time whilst son doing karate or football - a mobile untethered advantage of the ipad and the apps now available. Sketch used for reference created by the legendary Ron Cobb.

handy - iterated hands going for a gecko like feel with gripping plated feel in palm and gnarled worn knuckles and nails trying to keep that squishy padded feel from the concept.

Getting there with the hands - though not in concept chunky paw like hands feet made me think of  a gecko with scale forms across the pads used for gripping.

Quick Turntable recent progress playing with postfx in nomad learning as i go whilst working on beastie.

earlier timelapse WIP had been going a bit backwards not happy with initial head detailing forms proportions working through rest will come back to it - back scales ok symetrical at this stage.

 8 need to get most recent up as well covid has finally gotten me been kicking my ass this past week or so unfortunately.

7 Belly chest is ok want the ridges more subtle like a crocodiles belly scales as with the concept will keep fiddling.

5 Scales and detail in clay so much fun to do - done symmetrical for time being will amend in due course were necessary fairly happy with tail trying to keep the chunky almost puppyish proportions of these creatures in the concept.

3 Smoothing over the clay sculpting so quick smooth and with direct interaction it feels to me the closest approximation digitally to sculpting with clay that i have found.
